Women's Tennis Swept At Cal Poly

(San Luis Obispo, CA) - The Cal Poly women's tennis team picked up its 10th win in 11 matches with a 7-0 win over San Francisco in a non-conference match at Mustang Courts on Thursday afternoon. The Mustangs (11-4) won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches and took all singles matches in straight sets against the Lady Dons (10-1) who dropped their first match of the season. The Mustangs controlled the doubles matches, as Danielle Hustedt (Irvine, CA) and Kate Romm (Dana Point, CA) picked up an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles match over Gabi Ruiz and Anna Skogerboe. The Mustang team of Kristen Grady (Temecula, CA) and Chelsy Thompson (Dana Hills, CA) won by the same score in the No. 3 doubles match over Michelle Duncan and Stpehanie Chang. In sweeping the singles matches, Hustedt won the No. 1 singles match wiith a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ruiz. In the No. 3 singles match, Thompson also won by a large margin, defeating Carey Savage, 6-2, 6-0. USF continues their 2003 Spring Break road trip when they face Santa Barbara Friday, March 14.
