(San Diego, CA) - In the second game of the San Diego tournament, San Francisco fell to San Diego 6-1. USF drops to 7-8 on the season.

USD took the doubles point, sweeping all three matches. Julliete Coupez and Maja Sujica defeated junior Jennifer-Lee Heinser and freshman Melinda Akerbrant 8-4, Alexandra Demidova and Marite Raygada took the 8-7 win over junior Cecilia Gratian and sophomore Julia Wartenburger, and Laura Claus and Justine Perl defeated sophomore Alana McMahon and freshman Yurie Hashiguchi 8-2.

In singles, No. 65 Heinser earned the only win for the Dons, her 12th on the season. Heinser earned a two-set victory over Coupez 6-1, 6-1. Wartenburger fell to Claus in the No. 2 position 6-4, 6-1, and Gratian dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Sujica at No. 3. Marbach defeated Akerbrant 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4, McMahon fell to Demidova 6-1, 6-0, and Hashiguchi dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Raygada at the No. 6 position.

USF plays the final game of the tournament tomorrow, meeting the University of Pennsylvania.
