Lady Dons Swept by LMU in Los Angeles

The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team blanked the University of San Francisco, 7-0, on Monday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Courts on the Loyola Marymount campus. The match marks the third time in four matches that the Lions have swept their opponents 7-0. The Lions, who improve to 6-6 overall and 5-1 in the West Coast Conference with the win, made quick work of the Lady Dons sweeping all three doubles points. LMU took a decisive 1-0 lead going into singles play. LMU also quickly took control of the singles play winning four of the six points in straight sets. Edit Pakay and Georgie Dinham gave LMU a comfortable 3-0 lead playing at the No.1 and 3 spots, respectively. Pakay downed Gabi Ruiz 6-0, 6-1, while Dinham handed Carey Savage a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Jennifer Baker won, 7-5, 6-3, over Michelle Duncan at the No.5 spot and Patrycia Hubl claimed a victory, 6-2, 6-4, over Stepanie Chang at No.6. Penka Fileva and Diana Vinis were the only Lions to take their opponents to three sets. Fileva, playing No.2 singles, defeated Anna Skogerboe 6-3 in the final set after splitting the first two, 6-2, 4-6. Vinis was victorious over Beate Bernhoft at the No.4 spot. She came back to win two straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 after dropping the first set 0-6. Final score was 7-0.
