USF Women's Tennis Defeats Portland 4-2, Falls to Host UC Irvine 5-2
April 2, 2005
(Irvine, CA) - USF women's tennis opened play in the 2005 UC Irvine Spring Invitational with a 4-2 victory against West Coast Conference rival Portland Friday, before dropping a 5-2 decision against the host Anteaters Saturday afternoon. The Dons (6-8, 2-4 WCC) will compete against New Mexico Sunday in the third place match tentatively scheduled for a 9:00 AM first serve.
San Francisco lost the doubles point against the Pilots, but won four of the five completed singles matches. It was a different story for the Dons against the Anteaters as USF won the doubles point, but won just once in singles play, courtesy of a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win by Joana Macedo at No. 4.
