Strong come from behind wins by seniors Camille Pamart and Joana Macedo highlighted a 5-2 "Senior Day" women's tennis win over UC Davis Thursday at Golden Gate Park.
USF, playing its last home match of the season, celebrated senior day, with Pamart, Macedo, Lauren Hickey and Kelly Hickey being honored before the match.
The Dons started slowly dropping the doubles point, but then came on with Emma Taylor, Mylene Martin and Jenny Sperry taking straight set victories at numbers two, three and four to give USF the lead.
The outcome was very much in doubt as USF's seniors Camille Pamart, Joana Macedo and Lauren Hickey were all trailing.
But the Dons fought back, Macedo fighting off a set point before taking the final four games to win 7-5 in the third set and clinch the match. Lauren Hickey also fought back, but lost in a third set tiebreaker. Pamart came on strong in the end to win at the number one slot.
The win was the seventh in the last eight games for the Dons, who improved to 9-8 on the year.
"It was truly fitting that while the match was on the line we had three seniors out there fighting as hard as they could," said Head Coach Hilary Somers.
USF will play at Saint Mary's on April 13th.
