USF Women Prep For WCC Championships Winning 4-3 at San Jose State

The USF women's tennis team topped San Jose State 4-3 on Tuesday in their final tuneup for the WCC Championships that open Friday at Pepperdine. San Jose State picked up the doubles point, but the Dons dominated singles winning four of the six decisions. The Dons got straight set wins by Jenny Sperry at four, Joana Macedo at five and Lauren Hickey at six and then battled through three singles matches that went the distance. Camille Pamart overtook Ashley Tavita 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 at number one singles and Mylene Martin defeated Amber Silverstone 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 at three to clinch USF's eighth win in their last 10 matches. The Dons' Emma Taylor ended up falling in the third set.
