Dons Top Portland 4-3 In Second Round of WCC's
April 23, 2005
The USF women's tennis team won the doubles point by sweeping number one and number two doubles to defeat Portland 4-3 and advance to the fifth place match of the WCC tournament.
USF, played without its #1 and #2 singles players. "I thought our whole squad stepped it up without our one and two players playing," said coach Hilary Somers. "The last time we played them, we barely won. So without them, everyone played up two spots and really stepped it up. It took the entire team to come together to do that. I was especially impressed with my No. 3 player [Joana Macedo] who stepped it up and played No. 1."
