The Lady Dons made a tough effort to try to capture the first point when they started off with doubles. The #3 doubles duo of Kromschroder and Kobayashi, won their match 8-6 in a very convincing fashion.

At #1 doubles, Tweeton and Johnson rallied a comeback after being down 1-4, but lost a heartbreak tiebreaker, 7-5. The Lady Dons lost 5 of the 6 singles matches. Jamie Johnson clinched a first set victory, 7-5, and picked up a point for USF as her opponent retired due to an injury.

The match with the Gaels was the Lady Dons first match of the season.

"We were a bit nervous for our first match of the season, but came out strong in the doubles. The doubles point could have gone either way. We are looking forward to competing against St. Mary’s later in the season and are looking for some doubles revenge," states Coach Somers.
