Player Perspectives
The spring of 2003 proved very eventful for the USF volleyball team. The start of spring brought us a new coaching staff, head coach Jeff Nelson and assistant coach Shawn Garus. Our coaches instilled right away new dynamics and a new attitude toward the program. They set high expectations for us and worked to achieve these in the spring season. Winning at our first two spring tournaments gave our team a new found confidence as we prepare for next fall. With a strong group of five seniors and six returning underclassmen going into next fall the experience of our team is very strong. We have developed a high level of intensity and work ethic at practice and in game situations. Our team also has very good chemistry off the court. We get along well and like to be around each other. As our team gets closer off and on the court, we start to see results. We, as a team, expect to have a winning season next fall and to be a strong contender for the NCAA tournament. Everyone on our team is ready to start a legacy next year that the volleyball program at USF has never seen. We are very dedicated as a team to keep getting better over the summer so we can be in top condition when we return next fall. Many people on our squad are attending and coaching camps and playing all summer. Our schedule next fall provides us with many challenges that we are ready to take on. As always we wish all of the teams competing next year good luck. You can count on our team being there for support. We look forward to seeing everyone at our games also. Go dons!
