Player Perspectives
Aug. 12, 2003
Recently, there have been many changes that involve the volleyball program here at USF. It started with a new coaching staff that came in during the spring of last academic year, and the program has quickly evolved into something that everyone on our team is extremely excited for. Overall, it's a fresh face, a new look, and a whole new attitude. After having a great spring season, it was hard to let go of such a feeling of unity even for the summer. For a few months, everyone went in their own direction and waited anxiously for the season to begin, but during this time, changes were occurring, and I was fortunate enough to be here through all of it. A new locker room, new offices for the coaching staff, and a new sponsor are just the beginning of transformations that will lead our program in the right direction.
This will be my fourth year at USF and I have never been as excited to start a season. Going into our 5th day of preseason, everyone on the team has been working hard, whether it be for one, two or three practices a day, including the devoted coaching staff. We spend most of the day together... practicing, eating, weightlifting, and overall getting to know each other, especially the four new faces that have joined the team. Some may be sore, some may be bruised, but nobody will let up because there are goals to be achieved and many people to surprise with the new attitude that our team carries.
With only nine home games this season, I encourage everyone to come see the "new and improved" team. If it's true that hard work pays off, we're sure to have a great year.
