Player Perspectives

Sept. 25, 2003

15 and 0! Who would have ever thought the USF women's volleyball team was going to be heading into conference with that kind of pre-season record? Well I'll admit... not me, and I'm a one of the players. But I will say, now looking back, that it was well-deserved. After getting a taste of winning in our spring season, our team craved more success.

Determined we could achieve this, every last player on our team worked hard over the summer and entered the gym on our first double day eager to get started. We trained hard on the court to get better and spent a good amount of time together off the court to create the right team chemistry. Our coaches hold high expectations and find new ways to challenge us every practice. With their encouragement and the support of our teamates, we are able to accomplish our tasks and raise our level of play.

Personally, I'm stoked about our team this year. The time and effort that my teammates and I put in is showing that it pays off and only motivates us to keep going and reach more goals. Speaking of goals, I am proud to say that our team achieved our first goal of the year which was to win all of our pre-season tournaments. But, now it is time to focus on our conference and move on to our next goals.

As we all know, the West Coast Conference is tough with five of the eight teams in the top 30 and four of those teams in the top 20. I have confidence though, and am looking forward to showing everyone what our USF women's volleyball team can do! Our first conference match is Friday, October 3rd against Pepperdine down in Malibu, California.

Please join us when we finally play a home match when we host Portland Friday October 10 at 7:00 PM at War Memorial Gym. When the Dons host the Pilots, it will be only the second home match USF has played this season.

Season complete. Check back later for next season's schedule.
