USF Volleyball Falls in Three to Oral Roberts in Fresno State Invitational

(Fresno) - USF volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Oral Roberts, 30-28, 30-28, 30-22 Friday afternoon in third round action at the 2004 Fresno State Invitational at the North Gym. The Dons (4-8) earned a split on the day with an earlier 3-1 victory against San Diego State, but could not find an answer for the Golden Eagles (3-7).
Senior outside hitter Stephanie Voelckers (10 kills, 10 digs) and sophomore outside hitter Theresa Hart (10, 14) each turned in double-double nights, but the USF defense was unable to slow down ORU's offense, which hit at a .262 clip for the match and held a 53-39 kills advantage.
Junior middle blocker KeLicia Shorts added seven kills, a career-high eight digs to go along with four blocks (two solo). Two freshman defensive specialists added double-digit digs nights led by Ally Henthorn with 14, while Erin Fujimoto chipped in 13.
San Francisco concludes play in the tournament Saturday afternoon when they take on the Rebels of UNLV. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 PM at the North Gym. UNLV enters with a 3-4 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the tournament. The Rebels took a 3-2 win against Oral Roberts, but suffered a sweep at the hands of the host Bulldogs.
