War Memorial Gym Floor Facelift Nearing Completion

(San Francisco) - Work is nearing completion on the new playing surface at War Memorial Gym. The new floor is completely installed, sealed and the new court design is being painted right now. USFDons.com will chronicle the progress of the fresh floor design of a classic arena.

Five puzzle pieces will be removed today, Thursday, Friday and Monday to reveal the artist's rendering of the new War Memorial Gym playing surface. The Finishing touches on the floor should be complete early next week wrapping up a key renovation in the "House That Russell Built". The finished floor will be featured in a photo gallery on USFDons.com.

Installation of the new hardwood floor on the arena level of War Memorial Gym began Monday, May 11. The home for the Dons' men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball programs celebrated its 50th anniversary during the 2008-09 season. This is the first floor replacement done since the arena opened in 1958-59.
