Jackie Bernardin enters her first season as assistant volleyball coach at the Division I level with the University of San Francisco. No stranger to volleyball in the West Coast Conference, Bernardin captured an unprecedented three consecutive WCC Defensive Player of the Year honors during a record-setting career at the University of San Diego. Bernardin will assist in every facet of the program with a concentration on back row defense during on-court training. In addition, the Bakersfield native will serve as the Dons camp director. One of the top back row specialists in league history, Bernardin departed Alcala Park owning the program digs record with 1,402 in just three seasons. In four seasons of Division I volleyball, Bernardin tallied 1,578 digs after collecting 176 as a freshman at Texas in 2002. A two-time All-WCC First Team selection, Bernardin led the league in digs as a senior with 576 (5.10) - the third-highest single-season mark in conference history and tops in the Torero record book. Bernardin helped San Diego to a perfect 14-0 league record en route to the 2004 WCC Championship and a NCAA Sweet-16 berth. During her three-year career, USD posted a 30-12 WCC record and advanced to three straight NCAA Tournaments. Bernardin spent one season at Texas, competing in the 2003 NCAA Tournament with the Longhorns. Bernardin spent two years as assistant to the head coach of Torero Volleyball summer camps. During the spring of 2005, she served as coordinator of USD's summer camps, developing, promoting and organizing the youth programs. Bernardin graduated from USD in 2006 with a degree in Communication Studies with a minor in leadership. Bernardin lives in the City.
