Former U.S. National Team setter and former Pacific volleyball assistant Dan Fisher enters his second season at the University of San Francisco. Fisher was recently elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach prior to the start of the 2008 season. Fisher brings an exceptional playing and coaching resume to Gilad Doron's coaching staff.

"I am grateful to Gilad for the opportunity to take on more responsibilities with USF Volleyball," Fisher said after his promotion. "I look forward to the challenges ahead as we continue to build this program with Coach Doron. I am confident USF is poised for a breakthrough season."

USA Volleyball Coaching Staff
An experienced coach, Fisher was named to the USA Volleyball staff for the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Fisher worked with some of the nation's top men's collegiate volleyball players for the duration of the summer.

Helping the Tigers to the Top-25
Fisher spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Pacific men's team and also spent two years as an assistant with the women's program. While serving on the staff of head coach Joe Wortmann, the Pacific men's team achieved a No. 14 national ranking and rose as high as No. 8 in 2007.

In three seasons at his alma mater, Fisher worked with junior outside hitter Pekka Seppanen, who was named a second team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. In addition, Fisher worked with one US National Team performer and four players earning All-MPSF honors.

Elite Playing Experience
A standout player and team captain for Pacific, Fisher spent three years on the US National Team, beginning in 1999. In just two seasons with the Tigers, Fisher posted some dazzling numbers and litters the record books. His 3,007 career assists ranks second and his 82 aces rates fifth on the Tigers all-time charts.

An All-MPSF First Team selection in 1998, Fisher holds the third (1,581 - 1998) and fourth (1,426 - 1997) spots on Pacific's single-season assists list. Named team MVP as a senior, Fisher ranks second in single-match assists with 101 against Penn State (3/10/98). After a successful professional playing career in Europe - three seasons in Spain, one season each in Belgium and Switzerland - Fisher remains active on the AVP Tour.

International Coaching Experience
Fisher began his coaching career overseas, coaching Club Volleyball Menen for the 1999-00 season and later spent the 2003-04 season coaching the Volleyball Club Appenzell Gotten Girl's Youth in Switzerland. Fisher also coached the Club Santa Barbara 16's in 2002.

Personal File
A 1999 Pacific graduate with a degree in sociology, Fisher completed his Master's Degree in Sports Management in 2008. Fisher and his wife Joni reside in the City.
