2000 SEASON - Played solid defense for USF and contributed offensively during junior season... powered a season-high 18 kills in a win against Missouri-Kansas City (9/8)... notched 17 kills in an impressive five-game victory against Texas Christian (9/15)... closed out West Coast Conference play with a double-double against #22 Loyola Marymount with a 16 kill, 14 dig outing... also hit a season-best .538 against the Lions... also added double-doubles at Idaho State (9/2) 11, 14; at Denver (9/9) 12, 14; TCU 17, 15; Sacramento State (9/19) 12, 11; Northern Arizona (11/25) 11, 28... dug season-high 28 against Lumberjacks... recorded double-digit kills in eight matches and registered 16 matches with 10 or more digs... ranked seventh in the West Coast Conference in digs (3.10).
MISCELLANEOUS - Named 2000 Anne Dolan Award Recipient, presented annually to USF's top female student-athlete, demonstrating the highest level of excellence on the court, in the classroom and in the community... only third sophomore in 22-year history to earn the award... president of the USF chapter of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) for the 2000-2001 season.
1999 SEASON - One of USF's most consistent performers during the 1999 season and one of the key factors in the remarkable record turnaround for San Francisco volleyball... recorded an incredible 35 digs against Saint Mary's (11/12) and ranks third on the USF single five-game match list... also dug 32 against Wichita State (9/4) and also pounded a career-high 25 kills against Wichita State in her first of eight double-double (kills/digs) performances during her sophomore season... 25 kills against the Shockers were the most recorded by a USF player last season... led USF in digs (3.0) and ranked eighth in the West Coast Conference in overall matches... ranked second on the team in kills (2.38) and attempts (688)... enjoyed a pair of rare 20/30 matches with a 25 kill, 32 dig outing against Wichita State and a 21 kill, 35 dig match against the Gaels in West Coast Conference action... recorded 10 kills on 10 occasions in 1999 and produced 12 double-digit dig efforts - four with 20 or more... posted three of the top-five individual single-match highs in digs.
1998 SEASON - Had one of the most impressive freshman campaigns ever at USF... led the team in total digs (215, 2.34 dpg) and total attempts (620), while ranking second in total kills (177, 1.92 kpg)... had six double-figure kill matches, including a career-high 16-kill performance against Denver... recorded double-figure digs eight times and boasted a season-high 22 digs versus Saint Mary's.
PREP CAREER - Had a huge prep career, splitting time at Lincoln Pius X HS (junior and senior) and Beatrice HS (freshman and sophomore)... member of two consecutive state championship teams at Lincoln Pius X HS... set a new Nebraska Class B record for career kills with 834... new school records for both career kills (557) and single-season kills (314 as a senior) at Lincoln Pius X HS... named first team All-Nebraska and Huskerland Class B Prep Player of the Year as a senior... garnered Class B All-State honors and her first Huskerland award in junior year... a member of the state's all-academic team... also played basketball, softball and track & field... graduated in 1998.
PERSONAL - Amanda Marie Willnerd... born September 19, 1980... daughter of Jeff and JoAnn Willnerd... enjoys being a role model for young children... father, Jeff, played collegiate basketball at Eastern Wyoming College and Midland Lutheran College... my goal for this season is to be a player that no opposing team will ever serve to again... the best advice I could give to youngsters is nothing is impossible.
