USF Powers Past North Carolina A & T 3-1
Aug. 31, 2002 (Northridge) - San Francisco 16 kills from junior outside hitter Brittanie Budinger and 13 from junior middle blocker Liz MacAusland to roll past North Carolina A & T in their final match in the Fremont Investment and Loan Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge. USF (2-2) hit .286 for the contest and their stingy defense held North Carolina A & T (0-4) to a .164 percentage and forced 29 Aggie attack errors. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Bello set career-highs with nine kills and 12 digs. Senior opposite Amy Milo also enjoyed a career night with her first double-double of her career. Milo recorded 11 kills on .364 hitting and dug 10 - both career-highs. Junior setter April Scoggin continued to run the USF offense with a solid 52 assist, 16 dig double-double outing. Scoggin also recorded six kills for San Francisco. One of her favorite targets was freshman middle blocker KeLicia Shorts, who recorded 10 kills on .391 hitting to go along with five blocks, one solo. MacAusland also was integral in the USF defense and led the way with six blocks, two of them solo stuffs.
USF competes in the 2002 Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu and take on the #6 Rainbows on Thursday, September 5. Match time is at 4:00 PM Pacific and the contest will be televised live throughout the islands.
