USF Volleyball Posts 7-1 Record in Sacramento State Spring Invitational

April 16, 2005

(Sacramento) - USF volleyball enjoyed a strong tournament at the 2005 Sacramento State Spring Invitational Saturday at Hornet Gym. The Dons went 7-1 on the day, posting sweeps of Cal, Saint Mary's and San Jose State under the tournament format of two games to 30 points.

San Francisco played strong defense throughout the day and passed well and finished with the best record in the tournament field. USF head coach Jeff Nelson was encouraged by what he saw from his team.

"It was another good day for the team. We did a lot of great things and got strong play from everyone. It was exciting to see the hard work we have put in during practice pay off with a strong showing like today," Nelson said.

"Theresa Hart and Brynn Maurer both did a great job playing defense and passing and we blocked solid. Jencie and KeLicia were great in transition," Nelson said.

USF returns to action in its final spring tournament Saturday, April 30 at Stanford.
