Coaches Corner

Aug. 14, 2003

Things are off to a great start! Everyone is working really hard and pushing each other to take the program to a new level. It is really exciting to have everyone competing and realizing the true potential of this team. There are a few nagging injuries, but nothing that isn't improving daily. Hopefully we will have everyone ready for opening day.

I have seen some really good things in all of the players. The most exciting thing to see is the strong ball control. This should allow us to be stable and a much better side out team. The seniors have impressed me with the changes they have made and also how dedicated they were over the summer. All of them came back in fantastic shape...ready to play!!! Many other players also really got after it this summer and it really has helped raise the level of our preseason work-outs.

We had our first scrimmage two nights ago and it was really fun to see how well everyone got after it. The team has set some very high goals and is beginning to understand the commitment it will take to reach those goals. All of the coaches are very happy with the way things are progressing and excited for that first match.

Our first match is only two weeks away, up at Washington State. I know we are all looking forward to this trip and the opportunity to play some very good teams. This will be a great way to start and also get a gauge on where we are at. We will leave San Francisco on the 28th of August and open play on the 29th against a very strong Wichita State team.

Mark your calendars for the first home match on September 10th...we want to see everyone there and share the great commitment this team has made to USF!!!

GO DONS!!!
