Coaches Corner
Sept. 11, 2003 It is a very exciting evening here at USF as we are about to kick off our first home match of the new season. There seems to be a buzz around campus...so hopefully we will have a good crowd! The team has worked hard to promote the game! I think they are ready to share the new look with the USF community. Hopefully we will play a great match and keep the roll going! The first two weeks of the season have been an absolute whirlwind. We have played 8 matches in about 10 days. I am very happy with the level we have played at early and the results have been great! The team is playing with a lot of confidence and really building a good foundation for the upcoming months. It seems like our goals keep rising with each passing week. The first match of the season was such a good match. It was a huge win for us, as we had to come from behind in the fifth game to get the win. The Washington State match was equally fun and really helped to build our team's confidence. We went on to win the tournament and I thought everyone played great at different times. We spent last weekend in Arizona at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament. The Fiesta Bowl puts on a great tournament and their staff made all of us feel welcome. It was another great weekend and we rolled to four wins and another tournament title. It was great to see our team really take control and play four matches of solid ball! Brit (senior All-American candidate Brittanie Budinger) has been MVP two weeks in a row and has gotten off to a great start. Everyone is playing well. It was great to get everyone in this weekend and see some of our team get some quality PT.
I think all of us are really excited about what the future holds. We will continue to work hard and improve as the season goes on. Come out and see a game as we continue our march to the best season in USF Volleyball history! I look forward to seeing you at a match soon!
