San Francisco sophomore libero Haley Carroll was named West Coast Conference Defender of the Year, and junior middle blocker Alix Gombos and freshmen outside hitter Sarah Mandala were named conference honorable mention as announced by the WCC office.

Carroll becomes the first USF volleyball player to ever earn a major WCC award. The last individual garnering top recognition for the conference was Laurie Corbelli, who earned WCC Coach of the Year honors in 1987.

Carroll finished 2007 with a WCC high 522 digs on the season - the same tally as her freshman year. Her 1,044 career digs are a new USF underclassmen record and rank fifth on the all-time digs list. Carroll was a 2006 West Coast Conference Freshman Team member.

For a second straight season, Gombos is named WCC Honorable Mention. Gombos hit 2.09 kills per game on a 3.09 hitting percentage and registered 1.22 blocks per game.

Mandala shattered the USF freshman kills record with a team-high 350 on the season and ranked second on the team at 3.40 kills on .253 hitting with 0.70 blocks per game.
