PRINCEVILLE, Kauai – USF made a strong move up the leaderboard at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on Tuesday after the Dons turned in their best round of the season in Kauai.

The Dons shot a 10-under 278 to move up five spots into ninth place at 577 (+1), which is still 13 strokes off the blistering pace being set by Ole Miss, which leads the field at 23-under 276. USF's 278 on Tuesday tied No. 22 Arizona State for the second-lowest round of day behind the 12-under 276 turned in by the 25th-ranked Rebels, which opened a 13-stroke lead over Missouri and Sam Houston State.

Hayden Buckley of Missouri leads the field at the 36-hole mark of the tournament at 10-under 134 and has a one-stroke lead over first-round leader Mateuz Gradecki of East Tennessee State. Branden Thornberry of Ole Miss, the nation's 21st-ranked player, is lurking at 8-under 136.

The round of the day was turned in by Andrew Ertel of Sam Houston State, who carded an 8-under 64 to move into a tie for fourth place at 137 (-7).

Four of USF's five players managed to shoot par of better on Tuesday, led by freshman
Tim Widing and senior
Max Alcorn, who both made significant moves up the leaderboard after turning in rounds of 65 on Monday.

Widing moved 18 spots up the board into a tie for 11th place at 6-under 140 following a second round 67. The Swede played his first nine holes at 4-under and made six birdies against just one bogey on the day.

Alcorn matched his career low round to par with a 5-under 67 on Princeville's Makai Course to shoot 35 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 18th place at 142 (-2). Alcorn's bogey-free round included five birdies.

Kraig McLeod is tied for 46th place at 147 (+3) after turning in an even par 72 in a round that featured two birdies and two bogeys.

Henry Chung made five birdies on Monday but had to settle for a 74 which leaves the sophomore tied for 60th place at 150 (+6).

The Dons counted a solid even par round turned in by
Jalen Griffin, who is tied for 68th place at 151 (+7).
